Renting or buying mostly comes down to time. If the stairs have become a problem only for a while, perhaps during recovery from an operation or while a parent is staying over a winter, a rented lift can tide you through without a big outlay. If the difficulty is here to stay, owning one generally gives you more for your money over the years.
Stairlift Solutions is a family-owned local company, and from our Newtownards office in Co. Down we look after both kinds of customer across NI. Whichever route you take, we cover:
Owning a lift need not mean paying for a new one. As well as brand-new models we sell lifts that have been reconditioned and ex-rental lifts that have previously been out on hire, and either can reduce what you pay to own. You will find straight and curved options for inside the house, and outdoor models for steps in the garden or at the front door.
Can't decide? Let us visit for a FREE survey. One of our experienced staff will look over the stairs, explain what the survey shows, and put the rental and purchase figures in front of you so you can weigh them up properly.
Rent or buy, the lift we fit carries a full warranty, and our customer care line takes calls 24/7. Good quality equipment at a reasonable price is what we stand for. Ring 02891 882249 and we will talk you through both routes.
Places across NI where we rent and sell stairlifts: Derry, Strabane, Omagh, Enniskillen, Armagh, Newry, Downpatrick, Bangor, Newtownabbey, Carrickfergus, Larne, Ballymoney, Magherafelt, Lurgan.
Brooks Slimline Stairlifts
Brooks Slimline. Plenty of buyers who go pre-owned end up with this one, because a Slimline is made to keep going year after year. Just press the remote to bring it to you; it sets off softly, stops softly, and its DC packs recharge on their own whenever it parks.
Brooks 180 Curved Stairlifts
Brooks 180. A staircase that curves needs a rail shaped for it, and this Brooks model gives you exactly that, mounted round the inside of the turn or the outside. Owners get the trusted Brooks features and dependability.
HomeGlide Stairlifts
HomeGlide. Buying new without spending a fortune? This straight-stair lift is very competitively priced, yet it remains robust, safe and dependable, with basic controls and a calm, smooth glide. Installation is quick, and we cover all of NI.
HomeGlide Extra Stairlifts
HomeGlide Extra. The one to pick when you want to own something a little special for straight stairs: luxury, more options, your own colour and fabric, and slim proportions on a neat aluminium rail that fits discreetly. Ask our specialists about installing one.
Flow X Curved Stairlifts
Flow X. The award-winning Flow 2A had a hard act to follow, and ThyssenKrupp answered with this. Widely seen as a world leader, it puts the newest technology and German engineering on a single rail, so very few staircases, in homes or businesses, are beyond it.
Bespoke Synergy
Bespoke Synergy. For a straight staircase in a narrow hallway, this compact lift sits close to the wall on a rail that is among the world's slimmest. Operation is simple, the design detailed, and clever features stay hidden.
Bespoke Infinity
Bespoke Infinity. If you are buying for stairs that curve, this British-made lift offers comfort and quality that let you manage at home largely on your own. A parts warranty of 2 years is standard, and we supply expert advice and installation.
Acorn Stairlifts
Acorn. Shopping for a pre-owned lift? You will see this familiar name often, as it is a firm favourite on the reconditioned market. Simplicity is its strength, so using and maintaining it is easy, and quality is high.
Reconditioned Stairlifts
Reconditioned. Own a straight lift from £950 installed. These are lifts we have bought back, and each gets a complete service, a check, testing and a clean before it is refitted; most could pass for new. Age, condition and warranty left decide each price.
Rental Stairlifts
Rental. When you only need help on the stairs for a limited time, rent instead. Agreements last 6 or 12 months, and once yours is finished the lift is simply handed back.
Outdoor Stairlifts
Outdoor. For a straight flight outside, we offer a Brooks. Using it feels no different from the indoor version, but outdoor-grade parts and a sturdy plastic cover keep out snow, rain, strong light and heat. Suits private homes and commercial premises.
Extended Warranties
Extended warranty. Owners can extend their cover so breakdowns and unexpected repairs are taken care of. Problems are uncommon with our lifts, but it is reassuring to have, and our aftercare team picks up the phone around the clock.
Mobility Scooters
Scooters. A wide selection is on offer, with names like Invacare, Sterling and Supascoota plus several more. Phone one of our experts and they will explain the differences between models.
Riser Recliners
Riser recliners. Royams, a British family business for close to 40 years, offers a tailored service and its Patented Lift. Chairs come Petite, Standard or Kingsize, have battery backup and a wide choice of frame and fabric, and carry a 5-year motor and mechanism guarantee. High seat chairs delivered in NI too.
Rollators
Rollators. Coopers rollators weigh little and suit pavements as well as living rooms. They are designed around safety, comfort and quality, there are various models, colours and sizes, and yours will arrive at your door.
Manual Wheelchairs
Manual wheelchairs. BREEZY standard chairs are dependable, easy to operate and well built. Choose steel or aluminium for the folding frame; both are tested for a steady ride. We are happy to help you pick.
Powered Wheelchairs
Powered wheelchairs. Electric models built to go indoors and outdoors with real performance and easy manoeuvring. Various drive bases, seating systems and controls that can be expanded let you shape the chair around an independent life.
Ramps
Ramps. Our portable ramps, for daily use over steps and thresholds, fit most budgets. Pick rubber, plastic, carbon fibre or anodised aluminium; each keeps the weight low while carrying the most it safely can.
Bathroom Aids
Bathroom aids. With Coopers equipment you can bath and shower independently and in safety. Textured surfaces give wet hands something to hold, and locks keep the aid fixed firmly in position.
Toilet Aids
Toilet aids. Coopers continence and toileting products are practical by design and help you stay independent. If any of them would make life easier at home, mention it when you call us about renting or buying your stairlift.

An ex-rental lift has been out on hire before and is now for sale. Call us to hear what we have at the moment.
Think about how long you will need the lift. Renting is meant for short-term needs; buying is the better fit for the long run, and we will compare both during your free survey.
